Remote management could mean fewer long ATM repair journeys for Angola network

April 17, 2013

Angola's largest ATM network operator, EMIS, has chosen ProView software from Wincor Nixdorf to provide IT service management for its 2,000 self-service machines. EMIS expects to significantly increase availability across the system and decrease maintenance costs by reducing the number of technician calls.

The manufacturer-agnostic ProView software will provide  status and event messages to EMIS and automatically convert them into service orders as needed. On the basis of information collected, ProView determines whether a service call is necessary or whether the problem can be resolved via remote access.

"In such a large country as Angola, with journeys often taking days over distances up to 3,000 kilometers, this is a key advantage," said Stefan Wahle, vice president of solutions at Wincor Nixdorf. "Technician callouts are reduced, while at the same time keeping availability at a high level."

For EMIS, which is majority-owned by Angolan banks, key advantages of ProView included its ability to adapt easily to the software applications of ATMs from different manufacturers, and the fact that each Angolan bank and each provider can monitor its part of the ATM network individually via web consoles.
