Reduced operating hours at Taiwan c-stores a concern for ATM provider

April 9, 2019

President Chain Store Corp., operator of 5,300 7-Eleven stores in Taiwan, recently announced that 400 of the stores would no longer keep round-the-clock open hours, a decision that could signal trouble for the stores' ATM provider.

CTBC Bank currently operates ATMs at 5,100 7-Eleven locations in Taiwan. A report by Taiwan News said the c-stores' closing hours will affect ATM traffic and could make it harder for the bank to operate the ATMs profitably.

Additionally, the report said, the reduction in operating hours at some 7-Eleven stores could alter CTBC's plan to increase its ATM count this year to 6,000 machines across Taiwan.
