The ATM woes of Kiwi banks continue. Following a million-dollar ATM skimming scandal, FIs now find themselves in the midst of a union dispute between Armourguard Currency Management workers who fill ATMs and their management, an article by the New Zealand Herald said.
Due to the dispute, ATM machines have not been filled in the cities of Aukland and Wellington after the long Easter weekend, which has left many of the cash machines empty, the Herald said.
Service and Food Workers Union advocate Jill Ovens told the Herald that ACM management would be advised to take the collective agreement negotiations seriously. "Our members have the power to shut down the banking system," she said.
Ovens said that ACM had not moved its position on workers' pay rates, overtime or redundancy. Also at issue are agreements that guarantee some workers no more than 30 hours, as well as proposed alcohol and drug testing, the Herald article said.
