New anti-counterfeit 'Benjamin' launches Oct. 8

April 24, 2013

The Federal Reserve Board announced today that the redesigned $100 note will be introduced into circulation on Oct. 8, 2013. The new note, which incorporates new security features such as a blue, 3D security ribbon and a disappearing liberty bell, will be easier for the public to authenticate but more difficult for counterfeiters to replicate, according to the Fed.

The new design for the $100 note actually was unveiled in 2010, but its introduction was postponed due to an unexpected production delay.
