NCR secures ATM orders from Chinese banks

July 25, 2006

BEIJING¯NCR Corp. announced July 25 that it has received large ATM purchase orders from China Construction Bank and China's Bank of Communications. Financial details surrounding the transaction were not disclosed.

According to a news release, China Construction Bank bought more than 1,000 units, including the Personas M series 86 and 87 through-the-wall machines, the Personas 77 for in-lobby cash dispense, the Personas M Series 74 intelligent deposit solution with recycling, and the NCR EasyPoint 62, which is designed for retail and convenient locations.

The Bank of Communications order includes NCR Personas 77 and Personas M Series 87 ATMs.

Both transactions include second-line ATM maintenance-services contracts.

The NCR Personas M Series ATMs will allow the banks to introduce and enhance new services through software or through the upgradeable hardware platform. The NCR Personas M Series 74 ATM intelligent deposit solution provides reduced cash handling for locations where space is at a premium. The Personas M Series 74 also is designed to optimize the migration of high-volume, low commercial-value transactions from tellers to self-service channels.

All NCR ATMs offer countermeasures to ATM fraud and support EMV, Triple DES and remote key management, as well as other security options.

"Both China Construction Bank and Bank of Communications are NCR's close long-term partners that recognized NCR's ATM technology innovation and its security thought leadership," said Chris Yao, vice president of NCR's Financial Solutions Division in North Asia. "We have built up common trust and efforts in capturing business opportunities, precisely defining product positioning sharply and developing solutions with high-price performance."
