NCR, Diebold to place ATMs for visually impaired in India

August 12, 2009

NCR Corp. and Diebold Inc. have both announced plans to place ATMs for the visually impaired in India, according to a news report from Livemint.com.

Complying with the Reserve Bank of India's June 2008 mandate that banks in the country supply ATM services for the visually challenged, the ATMs have reportedly been developed in consultation with banks and the Xavier's Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged, a support and advocacy unit at Mumbai's St. Xavier's College.
