MiniPay intros stablecoin debit card

MiniPay, Opera's stablecoin wallet built on the Celo blockchain, launched the MiniPay Card in partnership with Visa and powered by Gnosis Pay. With thai debit card, eligible customers can spend stablecoin at more than 175 million merchants, according to a press release.

The card connects local onramps and wallet balances to Visa's network, and runs on Gnosis Pay's infrastructure. Stablecoin is automatically converted into fiat currency for merchants, without any special cryptocurrency seetup.

"MiniPay was built to make stablecoins useful in everyday life, not just to hold or send, but to spend," Jørgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera, said in a press release.

Since launching in 2023, MiniPay has grown to more than 16 million activated wallets across 65-plus countries. The card carries no monthly or annual fees and offers low fees, with cashback in select digital assets in certain markets.
