Visa is extending Visa Pay in Africa through a software development kit that will allow banks, mobile money companies and fintechs to embed Visa Pay into their apps, according to a report by Tech Africa News
The SDK is available across several African countries including Zambia, Sudan, Republic of Congo and Tanzania. It can support e-commerce, remittances, virtual cards and more. Visa plans to later add Tap to Pay for contactless payments.
"Visa Pay is designed to help issuers meet a wide range of market needs, from secure e-commerce and remittances to mobile money-linked virtual cards, humanitarian disbursements, person-to-person payments and future contactless experiences. By embedding these capabilities directly into existing mobile applications, Visa Pay's SDK helps banks, mobile money operators and fintechs bring trusted digital payment experiences to consumers faster, while unlocking new opportunities for growth across domestic and cross-border use cases," Godfrey Sullivan, SVP and head of products and solutions for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, said in the report.
