Dustin Jay Ammons, 44, of San Antonio has been sentenced to 140 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and 120 months for transporting explosives. The sentences will run concurrently, according to a report by Kens 5.
Ammons was convicted of placing pipe bombs at two ATMs in an attempt to steal cash. The explosions did not breach the machines.
Following an investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives entered his home and found a homemade explosives lab, along with multiple firearms. Federal officials claim he had no firearms, explosives, or short-barreled rifles registered to his name.
