SAN JOSE, Calif. - Infonox, which provides a platform for delivering diversified financial services to kiosks, ATMs and other delivery channels, is now supporting mobile devices like cell phones and PDAs on its platform.
According to a news release, Infonox has partnered with PayMate, a mobile-commerce solutions provider based in India, to develop a suite of mobile payment products for the U.S. market. Through the alliance, the existing businesses on the Infonox platform, which include major merchant acquirers, financial-service aggregators and financial institutions, will have the ability to offer their branded transaction services on cell phones.
The initial multiapplication set includes mobile/cellular-phone versions of transactional services like bill payment, money transfer (cross border) and POS payments at merchant locations. Subsequent products to be offered on the mobile channel will include transactional services and a variety of business services and systems-management services that already are offered by Infonox.
With the addition of a mobile channel to its platform, Infonox expects the reach of its platform to grow.
"We are very pleased to enter the world of mobile-commerce," said Safwan Shah, president of Infonox. "With PayMate as our partner, we are now ready to offer them very compelling transactional, business and system-management services."
The mobile applications will be based on industry standards like J2ME, BREW and Windows Mobile and will run over SMS, GPRS and CDMA-based protocols.
