Sweden's Bankomat AB, which operates ATM networks for five of the country's leading banks, has inked a three-year framework agreement with Wincor Nixdorf, the ATM manufacturer announced.
As part of the agreement, Bankomat has placed Scandinavia's biggest ATM order in ten years, purchasing 800 ATMs and up to 80 cash recycling systems from Wincor Nixdorf. Rollout of the systems will begin in September 2012.
Founded just a year and a half ago, Bankomat currently is in a gradual takeover process of operation and management for around 2,500 ATMs belonging to Nordea, Danske Bank, Handelsbanken, SEB and Swedbank. To improve uptime and efficiency across the networks, the FIs' ten-year-old systems will be replaced over the next few years.
"We have decided to continue a long-term successful cooperation between the banks and Wincor Nixdorf," said Bankomat CEO Stefan Bergelind.
