EDINBURGH, Scotland - Banques Populaires, one of France's largest banks, is now using KAL's Kalignite EMV software on more than 4,000 ATMs in its network.
Banques Populaires has 2,000 branches and 7,000,000 customers. Its ATMs provide a wide range of customer transactions, including advanced operations like mobile-phone top-ups. The transactions can only be accessed using the chip and PIN technology that meets EMVCo LLC's Europay, MasterCard, Visa standard.
According to a news release, i-BP, the technology arm of Banques Populaires, chose KAL's EMV technology in early 2006. The software is integrated and in use across the ATM network, which includes hardware from NCR Corp., Diebold Inc., Wincor Nixdorf International and De La Rue.
"The banks take great care to offer customers a very secure ATM service, and we believe our software helps them achieve their aims," said Michel Denis, KAL's director of engineering.
The Kalignite EMV Kernel is used within the i-BP private multivendor software application.
