First Data opens office in Poland

March 12, 2007

WARSAW, Poland - First Data International announced plans to extend its presence in Poland by building and developing relationships with local clients and bringing processing solutions to the Polish market.

According to a news release, the opening of a First Data office in Warsaw marks the company's third office-opening in the last year in Central Europe, following openings in Bucharest, Romania, and Zagreb, Croatia.

First Data is now operational in nine Central European countries.
First Data says Poland is a key market because of its steady economic growth and its well-developed card-issuing and acquiring industry. First Data's local operations there will include processing transactions, ATM-management services, point-of-sale network management and loyalty programs.

Operations are expected to launch during the second half of 2007.

Stefan Klestil, senior vice president and head of First Data's operations in Austria, Italy and 13 Central European countries said "This is a key market for us, and by expanding our local presence, we can now offer the full scope of our services to international and local bank groups as well as local and regional merchants."
