First Data inks deal with Canada's Interac

TORONTO - First Data International is slated to become a member of the Interac Association, a Canadian organization that facilitates electronic financial transactions.
According to a news release, First Data is expected to begin offering Interac services to the Canadian market in second-quarter 2007.
As an Interac member, First Data will have the ability to capture and process debit transactions in Canada, giving First Data's merchant clients the ability to accept Interac-branded cards at the point of sale.
