The EMV Migration Forum will host a special training event on Friday, Sept. 26, to help retail value-added resellers, independent software vendors and independent service organizations prepare for changes coming with U.S. EMV chip migration.

This one-day event, organized by the forum's testing and certification working committee, will provide a comprehensive review of chip technology and focused sessions on the development process and implementation best practices.

The workshop will take place at the Hyatt Lodge on the McDonald's campus at Hamburger University in Oak Brook, IL. Registration information is available online.

"Many retailers depend on the products and services provided by VARs, ISVs and ISOs, so it's critical that they understand the implementation process and the changes that come with EMV," EMF director Randy Vanderhoof said in the release. "The market is moving forward with EMV and it's important that key entities like VARs keep pace with the change. This workshop will address the changes they should expect and provide the fundamental education necessary for VARs, ISVs and ISOs to fully prepare for EMV."

Sessions will include:

  • why EMV now in the U.S. ;
  • EMV 101 development preparation ;
  • payment security standards;
  • implementation best practices and considerations ; and
  • testing best practices.

The event will follow the conclusion of a two-day all-member meeting of the EMV Migration Forum Sept. 24–25. Registration for the workshop does not include registration for the all-member meeting.

The training meeting is open to all VARs, ISVs and ISOs. Organizations need not be members of the EMV Migration Forum to register and attend.
