February 26, 2007
ADDISON, Texas - Ecashier Systems LLC, a financial-kiosk manufacturer, has signed a deal with Consejo Empresarial Gasolinero Valle De Mexico A.C., simply known as CEGA, to deploy a multifunction financial kiosk in Mexico.
According to a news release, the companies expect in early 2007 to deploy 100 kiosks in select Pemex store locations throughout the country. This initial deployment will be followed by a 24-month rollout of 2,500 additional ecashier financial-services kiosks.
Ecashier kiosks provide money-transfer services from theUnited StatestoMexico; CEGA sponsors the dispensing and reloading of a prepaid gasoline card, a Mexican-bank-branded prepaid debit card, and ATM cash dispensing.
An affiliated company of ecashier Systems will process the kiosk transactions, using its own patent-pending software.
Rather than making cash payments for gasoline to at islands, Pemex customers now will use a stored-value/prepaid gasoline card to pay at the pumps. In addition, customers will be able to pay for goods and other services at Pemex stores with the cards.
From the ecashier kiosk, Pemex customers also can purchase and reload a Mexican-bank-branded prepaid debit card to use for shopping throughoutMexico.
Other functionalities, such as bill payment and collection, long-distance calling-card dispense and cell-phone top-ups, are soon expected to be added to the kiosks, ecashier Systems says.
"The unique self-service capability of the kiosk for transferring money from theU.S.intoMexicois generating a great deal of interest and excitement in both countries," said Carole Hornsby Haynes, ecashier's managing partner.
