Discover, Garmin partner on mobile payment solution

 Discover and Garmin International Inc., have teamed to offer Garmin Pay to Discover cardmembers.

The contactless service, powered by FitPay, is available on selected Garmin smartwatches, including the vívoactive 3 series and new GPS running watches; the Forerunner 645, Forerunner 645 Music and fēnix 5 Plus series; and the D2 Delta aviator watch series, a press release said.

Cardmembers simply add their Discover card details to the Garmin virtual wallet through the Garmin Connect Mobile App. They can then make contactless purchases simply by tapping their watch on the POS device at any retail location where both Discover and contactless NFC transactions are accepted.

"We are excited to provide our customers and Discover cardmembers with another way to pay while they are on the go," Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales, said in the release. "Having the ability to easily pay for purchases without the need for a phone or wallet  is a feature that we are happy to bring to users who live an active lifestyle."
