Diebold signs Vietnam's largest ATM contract

August 13, 2007

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Diebold Inc. has signed a deal to sell 1,000 Opteva ATMs to Vietnam Private Bank, reportedly the largest sale of its kind in Vietnam.

Vietnam has about 3,000 ATMs.

According to a news release, VPBank will deploy 250 Opteva units throughout Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City during the remainder of 2007. The balance of ATMs will be installed at the bank's 80 branches and retail banking locations nationwide between 2008 and 2010.

"This deal is good for VPBank, its customers and the entire Vietnam economy, because it will significantly advance the development of retail banking-services throughout the country," said James L.M. Chen, senior vice president of Diebold's Asia-Pacific and EMEA divisions.

Diebold says it has sold more than 100,000 Opteva terminals worldwide since launching the ATM model in 2003.
