Diebold sells more than 9,600 ATMs in Brazil, makes ATM history

NORTH CANTON, Ohio — Diebold Inc. has partnered with Caixa Economica Federal in one of the largest ATMsales deals in history, according to Diebold. 
 
As one of Brazil's largestfinancial institutions, Caixa says it signed the Diebold deal tobetter serve itscustomer-base in Brazil's rapidly growing market.
 
Caixaexpects to integrate more than 9,600 full-function Diebold ATMs into its existing on-site ATMfleet across the country.
 
Diebold's full-function Opetva 4500 is designed for the Brazilianmarket. Engineers custom-designedthe new units to feature biometric identification for known customers, as well asbiometric identification with for others, such as ATM operators and technicians, using smart-card capabilities.
 
The ATMs also include securityfeatures such as anti-skimming technology with monitoring sensors for dip-cardreaders, keyboards and LCD displays, and electronic-access control to openthe upper cabinet door of the ATMs.
