Diebold names James Chen executive VP of international operations

Diebold Inc. has announced the appointment of James Chen to the position of executive vice president of international operations.
 
According to a news release from Diebold, in his expanded role, Chen will oversee all aspects of the company's operations in Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Latin America, including joint ventures, distribution channels, service operations, subsidiaries and distributors.
Chen most recently served as senior vice president of Asia-Pacific and EMEA for Diebold. He joined Diebold in 1998 as corporate vice president and managing director of Asia-Pacific.
 
"It is clear that we need to provide increased focus on the emerging international markets to help us drive further growth in a challenging and ever-changing business environment," said Tom Swidarski, Diebold's president and CEO. "I am confident that James' leadership and experience will serve our customers very well and align our business efforts in key growth markets such as China, Eastern Europe, India and Latin America."
 
Before joining Diebold, Chen served as general manager, business electronics at Philips Electronics China in Beijing. He also spent 14 years with NCR in a variety of management positions in Asia-Pacific, including managing director of NCR's Chinese subsidiary. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan.
