Diebold gets ATM software patent
December 9, 2007
(The Fort Wayne, Ind.) Journal Gazette:Diebold has patented software that indicates the status of transaction-function devices within ATMs. In the field of computer software, the patent allows for device-status messages to be conveyed in an easily transported form, such as a markup language like HTML, over a communications medium like the Internet. Messages are traditionally conveyed over the same communications channel as the transaction data, says Diebold's director of global technology, Jim Block. The patent describes a new ATM system that uses a touchscreen interface that mirrors a bank's ATM touchscreen as soon as a card is inserted.
