Customers Limited, operator of Australia’s largest ATM network, has completed its purchase of the Australian assets of Calypso, the Canadian-based ATM driver.
The deal will result in significant cost savings and open new revenue streams for Customers Limited because the business will handle its own ATM driving, said Tim Wildash, Customers managing director.
“This is a very significant change for our company,” Wildash said. “In the past, if we wanted to add additional functionality to our ATMs, such as bill pay options, we have had to coordinate this through a third-party supplier. Now we have the flexibility to do this ourselves, in house.”
Customers renamed the company Calypso Processing Services Australia. The business unit will continue to use S1, the payments processing software used by leading banks, as its core platform.
Customers operates more bank-branded ATMs than its Australian competitors.
Transaction Network Services owned Calypso, which was founded in 1999 by Triton, the Long Beach, Miss.-based ATM manufacturer.
