Co-Op names new director to board

September 6, 2007

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. - Gary Wolter, president and chief executive of the Alabama Credit Union League, which represents 176 Alabama credit unions and their 1.6 million members, has been appointed to Co-Op Financial Services' board of directors.

Wolter has more than 45 years of experience in the credit union industry. He was elected president and CEO of ACUL in 1966.

During his tenure, he has overseen the formation of several credit union-owned organizations, including the ACUL Corp., which houses all of ACUL's EFT business; EPL, a core data processor; and Credit Union Business Services, which provides business lending underwriting assistance and insurance products to credit unions and their small business clients.

Wolter is the vice chairman of Credit Union Services Corp., a Georgia-based shared branching organization, which recently became a subsidiary of Co-Op.

"I was initially drawn to the credit union industry because of the 'people helping people' philosophy," Wolter said.

Wolter also serves as chairman on numerous credit union boards, including EPL and the Alabama Shared Branching Network. He served two six-year terms on the board of CUNA, where he currently sits on the Governmental Affairs Committee. He also was chairman of the American Association of Credit Union League Executives and served as chairman of the U.S. Central Credit Union.
