CDS launches card program

January 24, 2007

DALLAS - Columbus Data Services has launched a gift-card and a personal spending/payroll-card program.

According to a news release, the gift-card program, called Everything Gift Cards, will allow businesses to give gift cards as rewards, gifts and/or incentives to customers, employees and the public. The gift cards are open-loop, so they can be used anywhere cards are accepted.

The personal spending/payroll-card program, known as the PayNGo Card, gives employers a benefit for their underbanked/unbanked employees. The cards are expected to reduce payroll costs for employers and employees, CDS says.

The PayNGo Card, like the Everything Gift Card, is is accepted at retail locations and ATMs.

"We put our stored-value card programs together after discussions with our clients, ISOs (independent sales organizations), who wanted to enter the fast-growing prepaid card market," said Ron Schuldt, CDS's president and chief executive. "We have built our program with flexibility to support multiple programs with different fee schedules, different customer-support needs, different issuing banks, different networks, and for re-loadable and non re-loadable cards. We can work with companies who market card programs to support their specific program needs. We spent much of 2006 building the backend functionality to support stored-value cards; now we are ready to go."
