Retail ATM giant Cardtronics has announced an ATM branding agreement in which Scotiabank will brand 470 Cardtronics-owned 7-Eleven ATMs in Canada.
The deal will enable Scotiabank, a $660 million FI, to expand totally free ATM access by 15 percent in Canada — to a total of nearly 3,500 locations. Scotiabank customers will gain fee-free access to cash in 7-Eleven stores located in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan. Completion of the branding effort is expected this summer.
"To meet the convenience needs of our customers, Scotiabank explores all options for expanding ATM access — at bank branches as well as retail stores that are already part of customers' daily routines," said Troy Wright, Scotiabank executive vice-president of retail distribution for Canadian banking."By establishing this ATM branding relationship with Cardtronics, Scotiabank gives its customers the benefit of fee-free and handily-located ATM access at 7-Eleven, one of the largest convenience store chains in Canada."
"Scotiabank has chosen to grow internationally with us," said Mike Clinard, president of global services at Cardtronics. "Beyond validating our ability to complement branch ATMs with the convenience of bank-branded ATMs in premier retail locations, Scotiabank endorses Cardtronics' professionalism in representing the Scotiabank brand."
Scotiabank and Cardtronics also work together in Puerto Rico, where the bank expanded its service through an ATM branding relationship with Cardtronics in 2010.
