Canada's government announced a plan to ban crypto ATMs in the country to protect scam victims, according to a report by CBC. The Liberal party said that crypto ATMs were a "primary method for scammers to defraud victims and for criminals to place their cash proceeds of crime."

This announcement was given in an economic update by the Liberal Party. It doesn't give any details of the proposed ban. Canada currently regulates crypto ATMs under money services business guidelines. The updates state that Canadians will be able to purchase cryptocurrency from "brick-and-mortar MSBs, while better protecting MSBs from illicit activity."

There are currently around 4,000 crypto ATMs in Canada, making it the second largest deployer in the world, after the U.S., which has more than 30,000 ATMs, according to Coin ATM Radar.

Severalcrypto ATM bans have been passed in other countries and states, including Indiana and Tennessee.
