Belarus bank brings payments control in-house

December 20, 2013

Belgazprombank, an FI in the Republic of Belarus, and BPC Technologies have partnered on implementation of the bank's new in-house processing center. By going in-house, the bank expects to gain greater control of its payments business, said a news release from BPC.

Belgazprombank is using SmartVista from BPC as a kernel in the new processing system. This approach allows the FI to support international payment systems such as Visa, MasterCard and China UnionPay, along with the local payment system, Belkart. BPC used its experience in connecting to national payment systems to rapidly integrate Belgazprombank with Belkart, which claims more than 5 million cards in circulation.

"Today, with our processing center based on SmartVista in live operation, our bank enjoys enlarged client service opportunities including the national 'Belkart' acquiring, implementation and improving products and services for merchants and our customers," said Elena Antony, deputy chairman of the board at Belgazprombank.

"We know that our solution will help the bank execute its growth strategy," said Daragh O'Byrne, CMO at BPC. "We are delighted to add Belarus as yet another country where SmartVista is supporting innovative financial institutions and [we] are looking forward to supporting Belgazprombank in its future plans."
