The Bank of Israel announced it will support contactless cash withdrawals on ATMs. Customers can use cards or digital wallets for this service, according to a report by JNS.

This bank will roll out this service in stages, starting with ATMs that already support the technology by July 2027. Then, ATMs without the required contactless technology will not be installed after June 2027. All ATMs will be upgraded by the end of 2030. The bank will also integrate cross-bank contactless withdrawals beginning in December 2027.

"The contactless withdrawal service is expected to improve the level of service provided to the public and offer a more advanced, convenient, and accessible user experience. This move reflects the Bank of Israel's ongoing commitment to improving Israel's payments system and adapting it to an advanced technological environment," Ofer Goaln, head of the payments and clearing department, Bank of Israel, said in the report.
