Banco de Credito del Peru, Diebold will install 1,000 ATMs to better serve Peru's unbanked

In an effort to reach the three-quarters of Peruvian adults who are currently unbanked, the country's principal FI is embarking on an ambitious plan to install more than 1,000 new ATMs.

To reach the three-quarters of Peruvian adults who are currently unbanked, the country's principal FI, Banco De Credito Peru is embarking on an ambitious plan to add more than 1,000 new Opteva ATMs from Diebold Inc. Currently, the bank operates a multi-vendor fleet of approximately 1,800 ATMs.

The ATMs will be deployed across the country in an effort to extend banking access to a greater number of Peruvians — including those in remote areas.

During the past two years, the bank has steadily increased the number of Diebold Opteva ATMs in its fleet to nearly 1,700 — including both cash dispensers and advanced­-function deposit automation devices.

Diebold provides first­ and second­line maintenance for the bank's entire multi-vendor fleet, which is supported by Diebold software and services.

"We have a strong commitment to serve the entire country of Peru," said BCP manager of alternative channels Arturo Johnson. "And that means extending our self­service banking network to reach even the most remote consumers. By expanding our network reach with Diebold's ATMs, we are making it easier for Peruvians to access advanced banking services and grow their relationship with our institution."
