Attendees, exhibitors flood Self Service Expo

April 25, 2007

LAS VEGAS -Self Service Expo, which runs April 25-26, opened its doors to plenty of praise. Held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, the expo is hosting approximately 170 exhibitors.

"This has been an excellent show so far," said Lawrence Dvorchik, general manager of Self Service Expo. "The quality of attendees has been tremendous."

Exhibitors said the number of visitors to their booths remained high and constant throughout the show's opening day, and plenty of companies from the ATM space were prominently represented.

Gloria Grand of California-based vault cash provider PDNB Electronic Banking Solutions, a division of Palm Desert National Bank, said ATM players are interested in learning about new revenue opportunities.

"We're seeing a lot of interest in things like prepaid cards and bill payment," she said. "ATM companies understand that they need to be exploring new opportunities."

Self-service financial transactions have been a highlight at this year's show, but they're only part of the story. On "Self-Service Street: The Real-Life Kiosk Experience" products from six exhibitors - Pay By Touch, IBM, Source Technologies, the U.S. Postal Service, eCast, Motion Computing and In-Touch Survey Systems - are deployed in real-world environments, ranging from a post office to a supermarket.

The show also features a "Tech Talks" theatre, where interactive discussions about a variety of topics and problems are tossed around. Topics touched on what managers should know about self-service, closed-loop cash management, self-service efficiency, and interactive digital media.
