ATMIA lines up industry leaders for upcoming ATM event in Miami
Industry leaders from Brink's, FedEx, and J.D. Power and Associates are among the speaker line-up set for ATMIA's U.S. ATM conference Feb. 17-19.

The ATM Industry Association is bringing in a range of speakers for its Miami event — representing all facets of the industry, from cash handling and transporting to security and manufacturing. Below is a list of the speakers and the lineup.
Keynote: High-Level Vision of the Industry Future, Feb. 18
Bob Tramontano leads marketing for the financial industry at NCR Corp., helping to fulfill consumer demand for self-service and assisted-service in more than 160 countries. Tramontano and his team ensure alignment with customer requirements, create the global offers, execute regional marketing activities and recruit and maintain an ecosystem of partners and distribution channels. The team is responsible for the creation and deployment of services that complement NCR's hardware and software offers.
Drawing on 25 years with NCR, Tramontano has held diverse positions in sales and sales management, product management, engineering and marketing, including serving as vice president of sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He spent extensive time in Europe and Asia, working with customers to develop solutions that address current and future business needs.
Tramontano holds a degree in marketing and management from the University of Texas.
International Payments Forum Workshop: The Automated Teller goes Mobile: A New Paradigm for the ATM, Feb. 17
Steve Mott is the principal of BetterBuyDesign and is a 25-year veteran of the electronic-payments industry, specializing in transaction economics, online and mobile transacting, and innovative uses of debit networks, authentication and security technologies, and emerging alternative payments. BetterBuyDesign is a management advisory firm serving clients ranging from banks and processors to technology startups and investment firms.
Mott speaks and writes frequently about the industry, presenting at more than two dozen payment, technology, retailing and customer conferences each year. He also serves on several payments-conference planning committees.
An acknowledged pioneer in e-commerce, in 1997 Mott was named by Interactive Week (now eWeek) magazine as one of the "Top 25 Unsung Heroes of the Internet," and in 1998 by Business 2.0 magazine as one of the "Top 25 Most Intriguing Minds for the New Economy." He is a graduate of Harvard Business School and a White House Fellow appointee, and previously held executive positions at McKinsey & Co., McGraw-Hill, MCI Telecommunications, MasterCard International and as President of Priceline WebHouse Club, an Internet merchant.
Ralph Poore is the chief cryptologist for Cryptographic Assurance Services LLC. He has more than 30 years of information technology experience, with emphasis on privacy, security, audit and control in e-commerce, enterprise systems and enabling technologies. An author, speaker inventor and instructor, he is well known in the information security profession. Poore was a pioneer of (ISC)2, a past chairman of the (ISC)2 board of directors and remains active on the numerous committees. He also is the vice chairman of the X9F1 standards committee. He is a certified fraud examiner, a certified information systems auditor, a certified information security professional, is certified in Homeland Security – Level III (CHS-III), a certified TG-3 assessor (CTGA), a PCI qualified security assessor (QSA), and a Toastmaster (CTM/CL).
Jeff Stapleton is the chief technology officer of Cryptographic Assurance Services LLC. He gained more than 25 years experience working with the security, financial and healthcare industries during his time with Citicorp, MasterCard, RSA, KPMG, GEOBRIDGE, Innove and the USAF Crypto Modernization Program Office.
Stapleton's areas of expertise include software development, payment systems, cryptography, PKI, biometrics, authentication and trusted time stamps. Stapleton holds bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science from the University of Missouri. He has taught at Washington University (St. Louis) and the University of Texas San Antonio and is a published author and frequent speaker at various security conferences. Stapleton also is the president and founder of the Information Assurance Consortium, a cross-discipline and cross-industry non-profit organization dedicated to education and awareness of security practices and the adoption of American National Standards.
The Voice of the Retail Bank Customer: Key Findings and Bottom-Line Benefits, Feb. 18
J. Michael Beird, director of banking for the Financial Services Practice of J.D. Power and Associates, oversees content for all syndicated and proprietary studies in the banking industry, including retail banking, retail-bank shopping, small business and credit cards.
Beird has more than 30 years of experience in retail financial services. Before joining J.D. Power and Associates in 2008, Beird served as managing director for BAI, where he managed product development and retail banking events, including BAI's Retail Delivery Conference & Expo. Beird also spent 13 years as a leading management advisor at consulting firms specializing in retail banking performance strategies. He advised bankers and branch personnel across four continents about streamlining branch operations, improving service quality of frontline staff, measuring and managing customer sales and implementing approaches to staff optimization and queuing across bank delivery channels.
Beird began his career with Bank of America, where he spent a number of years in various branch management positions. He has lectured extensively and written a number of articles about retail banking best practices. Beird holds a bachelor's degree in social psychology at the University of California, Irvine, and an MBA in finance and accounting from Cornell University's Johnson School of Management.
Whither (or Wither) the ATM?, Feb. 18
Vincent Forte Sr., senior vice president of products for Fiserv, oversees the definition and delivery of a product strategy within the EFT Solutions group for Fiserv. His responsibilities include the pursuit of product initiatives across ATM, debit and credit cards, loyalty, risk management and business applications. Forte joined Fiserv in 2004. Before taking his current position, Forte served as vice president of card-based product development initiatives.
With more than 20 years of EFT experience in the financial-services industry, Forte has served in a variety of leadership roles. Before Fiserv, Forte was a vice president within the Global Product Development Group of MasterCard International. Prior to MasterCard, Forte supported leadership roles within leading PIN-based debit networks. Forte holds a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University.
Enhancing Customer Experiences and Generating Revenues via Self-Service Third Party Advertising, Feb. 18
Rob Hewitt is the head of business development for i-design Multimedia Ltd., an ATM advertising company he joined in 2008 after leaving Fiserv's Cash and Logistics division, where he was responsible for business development, technology sales and solutions to financial institutions in Europe. Hewitt has been involved in the ATM industry for several years through his work in banking, cash in transit and technology companies. At i-design he oversees global business development of i-design's products and solutions and alliance partner management. ATM's Role in Bank Customer Experience, Feb. 18 Todd Kalina leads the ATM Product Management group at U.S. Bank, where he has worked for nearly 8 years. Kalina has been involved with the financial services industry for more than 12 years.
The ATM's Role in the Payments Sector: Balancing Service Delivery with Newer Technology, Feb. 18
Steve Karp, senior vice president of enterprise payments strategy for SunTrust Bank, has more than 15 years of payments industry, management consulting and investment banking experience. At SunTrust Bank, he partners with executive leadership across various customer, product and channel segments to develop and execute payment-related strategies. His areas of focus include prepaid cards, ATM-channel management, online banking and bill payment, and alternative payments. Before joining SunTrust in January 2008, Karp was a manager at Edgar, Dunn & Co., a global payments industry consulting firm. While at EDC, Karp worked with and developed strategies for leading companies in the credit card, bill payment, EFT and mobile banking industries. Karp also co-founded and served as executive vice president of Allpoint, the largest surcharge-free ATM network in the United States. He led the network's operations, financial reporting and budgeting, strategic planning, legal and administrative functions. Prior to Allpoint, Karp held a senior management position in the electronic banking practice of First Annapolis Consulting. He also has held investment banking and consulting positions at Friedman, Billings, Ramsey and ICF Consulting.
Helping Your International Customers Feel at Home — While Earning a Significant New Income from Existing ATM Withdrawals, Feb. 18
James Kershaw is the director of international sales for Planet Payment, a multicurrency payment processor dedicated to enabling internationally focused processors, acquiring banks and merchants to accept, process and reconcile credit card transactions in multiple currencies. Kershaw has experience in cross-border and multicurrency card acquiring with global financial institutions. At Planet Payment, he sells multicurrency and dynamic currency conversion solutions to banks and merchants. Kershaw is recognized as an industry expert for DCC and multicurrency solutions, and has been a regular speaker at industry conferences in Europe, the Middle East and North America.
Think PCI: The Good, The Bad, and The Facts Panel Discussion, Feb. 19
Andrew Jamieson, technical manager of Witham Laboratories, has more than 15 years of experience working with payment systems and emerging technologies. Before joining Witham Laboratories, he helped different companies create new technologies in the areas of payment systems and consumer products.
Since joining the company in 2003, Jamieson has helped Witham achieve accreditation as the fourth company in the world permitted to perform PCI PED evaluations. He also has performed a number of PCI PED evaluations, PCI DSS audits and is responsible for managing all other evaluation and technical work performed by the laboratory. Jamieson holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in information security. Jamieson is accredited as a CISSP, and a QSA by PCI SSC.
Susan Kohl is the president of ThoughtKey Inc., a PCI program and project management consulting firm based in Atlanta. Kohl has more than 18 years of experience in international audits, litigation review, regulatory risk management and compliance. For more than five years, she has concentrated on payment data security. ThoughtKey's clients vary from sponsor banks and ISOs to processors, debit networks and PED manufacturers. Kohl holds CPISM, TG-3, CPA and business process reengineering certifications. She also serves on the ATMIA board of directors and participates in NACHA, the Merchant Acquirer Risk Council, and the PCI Security Standards Council.
Kohl has authored several proprietary risk documents as well as assisted in developing the ATMIA Mobile Phone Security Manual.
Stoddard Lambertson is the business leader of payment system risk for Visa. Lambertson has worked with Visa for more than 20 years, starting his career through work with member banks and large merchants in what is now a separate company, TSYS Acquiring Solutions. Lambertson then worked with issuers and acquirers in the United States and Canada on the implementation of the card verification value program — considered one of Visa's most successful counterfeit-fraud-deterrent programs. Lambertson today manages the PIN Security and Key Management Compliance Program for Visa — designed to measure and ensure acquirers and their agents are fully complying with the Payment Card Industry PIN and PED security requirements. Stephen M. Rush is the president of The Guthrie Group Inc. Before The Guthrie Group, he worked with Visa for more than 13 years, where he was responsible for PIN security education worldwide and for assuring compliance with Visa's PIN security program in Canada. He has conducted more than 400 PIN security field reviews at a variety of organizations, including banks, processors, merchants, ISOs and ESOs. Most of these reviews were carried out in the United States, but he also has reviewed compliance at entities in Canada, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Rush has developed key management and PIN security compliance validation workshops that provide training to bank and processor staff on all aspects of key management, operations procedures and threats associated with the operation of ATMs and PIN pads. Both of these courses have been accredited by NASBA for continuing professional education. Rush also has managed a number of projects within the Payment Technologies and Acquirer Systems divisions of Visa. Before Visa, Rush was a management consultant with Arthur Young and Company, PA Consulting Group and Arthur D. Little Inc. His assignments included work with a number of banks, airlines, government agencies and manufacturing firms in North America, Europe, and Asia and Africa. Rush holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Rochester and an MBA in Information Systems from the Edward W. Ageno School of Business, Golden Gate University. He is a certified management consultant in Ontario and a member of the Institute of Management Consultants of Ontario. He also works as an adjunct professor in the Ageno School of Business, Golden Gate University.
Benefits and Pitfalls of Open Platform Software panel discussion, Feb. 18
Peter Kulik, vice president of EFT product management for Fifth Third Processing Solutions LLC, has 23 years experience in the financial services industry. Kulik has written for and been quoted in ATMmarketplace.com, Bank Systems & Technology, The Green Sheet, IBC Journal and Microsoft Banking Journal. Formerly the managing director of KLCI Research Group, Kulik joined Fifth Third Processing Solutions in 2003. He has spoken at conferences for ATMIA, BAI, NAFCU, ICBA, as well as other trade associations in the United States, Canada and Europe, and has worked with leading U.S. FIs and around the world, including CIBC, Halifax plc, HSBC, OCBC and RBC Royal Bank. Kulik also will speak on Feb. 19, when he hosts Securing ATM Software in a Windows XP Operating Environment.
Pat Telford is a Microsoft consultant based in Toronto. He has spent the last six years helping a number of banks worldwide secure, deploy and operate their Windows XP-based ATMs.
Robert Usner is the senior director of global market strategy and planning for Diebold Inc., where he oversees market-strategy development, solutions-delivery and market-intelligence activities that focus on self-service and related services businesses.
With nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services and technology industry, Usner has a background in technology development, financial systems architecture, open systems, business development and strategic planning. Usner's previous position with Diebold was as director of product management and marketing at Nexus Software — a provider of standards-based middleware for financial solutions. Usner holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Kent State University and an associate's degree in electronics technology from The University of Akron. Alan Walsh is the vice president of the banking division for Wincor Nixdorf Inc. (Wincor Nixdorf USA), where oversees the building of relationships with customers and strategic business partners as well as helping Wincor Nixdorf grow its service business in the United States. Before joining the U.S. team, Walsh served as managing director for Wincor Nixdorf Ireland, where he played a key role in the successful turnaround of the organization (nearly 50 percent market share in 2004). Walsh holds a degree in software engineering from the Carlow Institute of Technology in Ireland.
Hosted Solutions to Minimize Risk and Reduce IT Costs for the ISO and FIs, Feb. 18
Paul Miniutti is the ATM operations manager for Profit Stars. Miniutti has been building software for more than 25 years, with a focus for the last nine years on ATM channel management software. Miniutti formerly was the chief technology officer and senior vice president of eClassicSystems, the maker of ATM Manager Pro. Since Jack Henry and Associates' acquisition of ATM Manager Pro, Miniutti's focus has been on moving ATM Manager Pro to a hosted solution and driving ATM Manager Pro's use throughout the United States and international markets.
Future of Self-Service Delivery, Feb. 18 Brad Holan is JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s head of ATM and cash operations, a position he has held since June 2007. Holan manages the day-to-day deployment, monitoring, servicing and production of Chase's more than 14,000 ATMs.
Holan's team also manages the cash in the branch and for the imaging ATMs, offering benefits in customer service, branch experience, back-office activity and cost savings. Before joining the ATM and cash team, Holan led Chase's Retail Operations Program Office and held various positions within Chase's corporate audit and security group.
Remote Key Transport, Feb. 18
Henry Schwarz is the software projects director for Triton Systems of Delaware Inc., where he oversees the development of Triton's most advanced software systems. During his 10 years with Triton, Schwarz has played a technical and managerial role in the development and deployment of thousands of ATMs, and has been instrumental in the design and implementation of Triton's RKT solution. Schwarz began working in the consumer electronic banking industry in 1987, developing terminals for EFTs at the retail point-of-sale. He developed terminal software for many FIs, including American Express, First Data, National Australia Bank, ETSL New Zealand, Thai Military Bank, Cashcard Australia, Colonial State Bank and Papua New Guinea Banking Corporation. Schwarz' technical expertise includes security and cryptography, financial transactions, communications and embedded systems. Schwarz has a bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics from Australia's Monash University and is a member of the Mensa Society.

Mike Urban is the senior director of fraud solutions for FICO (Fair Isaac), where his responsibilities include managing the operations for the ATM-network-fraud solution as well as leading numerous counterfeit and card-compromise fraud initiatives. As one of the payment card industry's most sought-after experts, Urban has more than 15 years of experience in banking and electronic payment systems. Urban analyzes fraud issues and trends to provide continuous improvements in fraud-detection technology. He also regularly works with law enforcement to help prosecute criminals and has been responsible for uncovering some of the largest counterfeit crime rings in the United States.
Urban received the GASA ATM Crime Fighter of the Year 2005 award and was named ATMIA Most Influential Member of the Year 2004. He also is a board member of the Global ATM Security Alliance and is an active member of the Santa Fe Group, the American Society of Industrial Security and ATMIA.

Joseph Abbo works with Airis ATM Technologies, a global expert in ATM product and service solutions. Since the company's founding in 1979 as The ATM Exchange, Airis has worked with FIs, retail-equipment deployers and maintenance service companies, providing spare ATM parts, depot repair and new or refurbished ATMs.
Clint M. Beard, director of ATM product development for Brink's Inc. in the United States, is responsible for product development and implementation of strategies that drive product line growth and profitability. Beard also served as Brink's U.S. director of sales before taking on the role of ATM product development. He has more 20 years of business experience in cash management and supply chain logistics. Before Brink's, Beard spent 18 years with FedEx Corp., where he held several leadership positions in sales and operations. Beard holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from Stephen F. Austin University.
Bill Dunn, vice president of sales and marketing for Tranax Technologies Inc., oversees sales and marketing for Tranax's U.S. and Canadian markets. He has been actively involved with the ATM industry since 1992 and has been a member of ATMIA since it was founded as the ATM Owners Association. Dunn is an active member of ATMIA's Government Relations Committee, the Denomination Fraud committee and the ATMIA board.
Doug Falcone is the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Access to Money, a company Falcone founded in 1997 and led until its sale in April 2008. Under his leadership, Access To Money grew into one of the largest independent ATM operators in the United States. Today, Access To Money operates approximately 12,000 ATMs.
Falcone has nearly 30 years of experience in ATM operations, sales and marketing. Before founding Access To Money, Falcone founded and operated Campus Dining Services & Vending, a New Jersey-based corporate catering firm. Falcone previously owned several restaurants and has more than 12 years of senior sales experience in the automobile industry.
Falcone also will lead the breakout session,ATM Portfolios: Measuring Their Value and Weighing the Options for Owners, on Feb. 18.
Richard Green is the senior manager of business development for PULSE, a Discover Financial Services company based in Houston that serves more than 4,500 banks, credit unions and savings institutions in the United States. The network links cardholders with more than 289,000 ATMs, as well as point-of-sale terminals at retail locations nationwide.
Green joined PULSE in 1999 and was responsible for membership and related product sales to financial institutions. He currently manages processor and network relationships and other indirect sales channels for PULSE.
Green began his career in EFT networking in 1985 with MoneyMaker EFT Services, expanding the off-premises ATM network to include FI participation. In 1989 he became regional business manager for EDS and executive director of MPACT, the Texas-based ATM and POS network. Green holds a bachelor's degree in international business from Carthage College and a master's degree in international management from American Graduate School of International Management.
Kendall Harsch, vice president of Metabank — Meta Payment Systems, is a 25-year veteran of the banking and card industries. He is responsible for the ATM and POS sponsorship programs at MetaBank.
Steve Hensley, global executive vice president of sales and marketing for KAL and a member of KAL's board of directors, has more than 20 years of experience in the information technology sector. Hensley held numerous sales and sales management positions in the IT industry before joining KAL. Throughout his career, Hensley has been involved in the financial industry and has focused on self-service solutions, including ATMs and kiosks.
Tracy Kitten is the editor of ATMmarketplace.com and the senior editor of NetWorld Alliance's Self-Service/Technology Division, of which ATMmarketplace.com is a part.
