ATM scam in Ireland robs thousands

The Echo: ATM withdrawals involving sums ranging from €200 (U.S. $402) up to €2,000 ($4,024), amounting to as much as €100,000 (U.S. $201,340), may have been illegally withdrawn this month from a branch ATM at Bank of Ireland. Three members of an Eastern European fraud gang were jailed after being caught skimming ATM cards and stealing from ATMs. Later it came out that five such gangs have been involved in ATM fraud across the country, costing banks more than €4 million (U.S. $5.5 million) in 2006.
