Australia and New Zealand Banking Group ($642.12 billion in assets) has launched goMoney mobile banking and payments in several nations in the Pacific. Powered by the Fiserv Mobiliti Reach solution for emerging markets, goMoney offers mobile financial services to un- and underbanked consumers in Samoa, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.
"ANZ goMoney allows customers to send money to family and friends, pay their bills, purchase airtime top-up vouchers and view their account balances and history on their mobile phones," said Vishnu Mohan, ANZ CEO for the Pacific.
Mobiliti Reach from Fiserv lets consumers without a banking relationship use their mobile phones to save, send and spend money — transactions traditionally carried out in cash. Popular transaction types include merchant payments at the point-of-sale, person-to-person payments and more traditional banking services such as account balance checks and transaction history.
"With ANZ goMoney, customers are able to purchase goods from accredited merchants, thus eliminating the need to carry cash," said Mark Baker, ANZ CEO for Papua New Guinea. "We are also providing an easy way to open a bank account and register for ANZ goMoney with one of our ANZ goMoney sales agents."
"The success of the ANZ goMoney service among both existing customers and consumers with no prior banking relationships demonstrates the potential of the mobile channel to create new revenue sources and reach new customer segments," said Nick Wilde, senior vice president of the Fiserv international group.
