ABC Currency Solutions, providers of coin- and cash-handling devices, in partnership with KICTeam Inc., providers of technical cleaning products, have completed a five-month field test cleaning program for ATMs.
The testing was conducted with field techs on targeted devices over the holidays and winter months to capitalize on heavy device use and extreme weather conditions, the companies said in a press release.
Results demonstrated that regular cleaning of deposit automation modules and card readers resulted in a 35 percent reduction in corrective action service calls and a significant improvement in ATM uptime, according to the release. ABC reported that over the testing period they saw "almost no card reader errors."
"[T]he results were far better than we expected," ABC Sales Manager Lee Smith, said in the release.
A new cleaning routine implemented by ABC also proved both highly effective while reducing cleaning time, according to Carlos Siewczynski, sales director for self service at KICTeam.
