A piece on corporate earnings; a couple of pieces on security; a couple pieces on ATM innovation — all of these cropped up in the ATM Marketplace top five for the month.
May 6, 2015
April in the ATM industry was a "bad news-good news" kind of month. On one side were publicly owned industry players who were obliged to report quarterly earnings battered by the ill winds of unfavorable currency exchange — exacerbated by economic unrest and political uncertainty across much of Europe. On the other side was Kalpana, the thin client solution that NCR Corp. soft-launched at the ATMIA US conference in February and formally rolled out in mid-April in a pilot project with Cardtronics Inc.
Features about the vendor-agnostic, Android-based, cloud-dwelling platform (which can be implemented with or without a companion thin-client ATM) attracted immense interest from industry members. They can expect one more feature about Kalpana in the months ahead, as pilot test results begin to provide a real-world assessment of the solution's cost-saving and security-enhancing capability.
