Wincor reports 13 percent net sales increase

PADERBORN, Germany - Wincor Nixdorf Internationalhas reported a first quarter 2007 net sales increase of 13 percent, up to €549 million (U.S. $711 million).
 
Net profit increased 44 percent, up from €18 million (U.S. $23 million) to €26 million (U.S. $34 million), for the same period last year.
 
Across the globe
 
In Europe, excluding Germany, net sales grew 9 percent in the first quarter, up from €265 million (U.S. $344 million) to €290 million ($376 million).
 
Year-on-year growth in Germany stood at 17 percent, however, net sales increased, up from €124 million last year (U.S. $161 million) to €145 million (U.S. $188 million).
 
Asia and the Americas each produced double-digit growth rates over the course of the first quarter. Asia/Pacific/Africa recorded an increase of 18 percent, up from €60 (U.S. $78 million) to
€71 million (U.S. $92 million).
 
The Americas also reported a 10 percent net sales increase, up from €39 million (U.S. $51 million) in 1Q '06 to €43 million (U.S. $56 million) in 1Q '07.
 
Within Wincor's banking segment, net sales for the first quarter rose by 20 percent to
€349 million (U.S. $452 million). Wincor says the increase was driven by buoyant growth in the company's product and services business in Europe and other regions.The Retail segment recorded net sales growth of one percent, taking the total to €200 million (U.S. $259 million).
 
Net sales associated with the group's product business also rose by 14 percent in 1Q '07, up to €339 million (U.S. $439 million). 
 
Wincor welcomes new CEO
 
Wincor's chief financial officer Eckard Heidloff will succeed Karl-Heinz Stiller on Jan. 30 as the company's chief executive officer. The succession will take place duringWincor World, an international trade fair currently being held in Paderborn.
 
Show organizers are expecting more than 7,000 international vistitors.
