PADERBORN, Germany - Landesbank Berlin, a Wincor Nixdorf customer, took second place in the "Best use of IT in retail banking" category at the 2005 European Banking Technology Awards in London.
The bank entered its new branch strategy, which focuses on migrating teller operations to self-service equipment through the use of Wincor's ProCash/FOnet (front office network) solution. The solution, in conjunction with withdrawal and deposit equipment, is saving Landesbank Berlin between 80 percent and 90 percent of its branch transaction-costs. All cash transactions that are not handled in the self-service foyer, or which the customer does not want to take care of on his own, are authorized at the service or the reception desk using ProCash/FOnet.
