Wincor Nixdorf takes tech award in Malaysia

October 8, 2007

PADERBORN, Germany - The Banker, a British trade magazine, presents its Technology Awards every year for technological innovations and projects relating to the front office, the capital market, payments and retail banking. More than 300 different technology solutions were nominated by financial institutions from Asia, America and Europe this year for the Banker Technology Awards, a record number of nominations, according to The Banker.

CIMB Bank from Malaysia received the Banker Technology Award 2007 for its innovative management of self-service systems. The bank is running Wincor Nixdorf International's ProView software to monitor its machines remotely and to initiate, perform and document the necessary service processes.

CIMB Bank also reportedly has achieved improvements by using Wincor Nixdorf's software solution, ProView, reducing response times for faulty ATMs and check-deposit machines from an average of 90 minutes to 15 minutes. Downtimes on those machines have been cut by 25 percent, the bank says, boosting productivity by 19 percent. As a result, the volume of transactions has increased 15 percent.

The latest version of ProView software is integrated in a voice-driven process, Wincor Nixdorf says. Information about the operating state of self-service systems and any fault notifications can be sent directly to service technicians via an automated voice message.Systems from other vendors also can be integrated, and ProView can be deployed not only on decentralized systems at branches but also centrally at the head office or at a shared data center or external systems management center.
