PADERBORN, Germany — Penki Kontinentai Group, represented by its subsidiary BS/2, and Wincor Nixdorf AG has announced plans to expand their business into Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
According to a news release, Penki and Wincor have partnered to extend IT solutions for banking and retail enterprises into new markets. Penki will market the solutions that are provided by Wincor Nixdorf.
Penki, which specializes in banking technologies, payment and loyalty card solutions and telecommunications, has been a Wincor Nixdorf sales and service partner for the banking sector since 1995. The two companies now offer branch-banking services in 15 countries. Penki has a workforce of some 300 employees and reported sales of €110 million (U.S. $137.4 million) in 2007.
"Penki has accumulated extensive know-how in our core business areas with banks and retail companies over more than one decade and has a comprehensive and modern IT service infrastructure at its disposal in most countries," said Eckard Heidloff, chief executive of Wincor Nixdorf AG.
Wincor Nixdorf has seen double-digit business growth in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and now aims to expand its software business. Penki is setting up a software and solutions center in Vilnius, Lithuania, to support customers and other partners in the region from the center.
Wincor Nixdorf's ProView monitoring software has already been marketed and integrated by Penki, and both companies say they see potential for the software on the banking and ATM side.
"We are pleased about the new agreement with Wincor Nixdorf, which enables broader cooperation in terms of the range of products and services and in terms of new geographical regions," said Idrakas Dadasovas, general manager of Penki Kontinentai. "This move will be beneficial for the further development of the two independent international companies."
Penki will offer Wincor Nixdorf's banking portfolio in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. In addition, Penki will handle sales of products, solutions and services for the retail sector.
