Wincor Nixdorf AG is expanding its IT line in Asia. The company today announced its June 1 acquisition of the Manila-based Information Technology Products & Services Division of Siemens.
Now part of Wincor Nixdorf, the division will be called Wincor Nixdorf Philippines Inc. and will operate as a separate legal entity within the Wincor Nixdorf group.

Lim Khoon Hong, Asia-Pacific president for Wincor Nixdorf, says the acquisition helps Wincor extend and expand its solutions reach in Asia, a critical market for the company:

Wincor Nixdorf is pleased to become the owner of this business after many years of cooperation with Siemens Inc.'s ITPS Division and is excited about expanding our business and solutions offerings to such a strategically important market. The acquisition is part of Wincor Nixdorf's strategy to expand globally by focusing on high-growth regions. The Philippines is the latest positive development with regards to the internationalization of our business.

ITPS, as a Wincor Nixdorf partner before the acquisition, developed several relationships with retail banks and retailers using Wincor Nixdorf's software, services portfolio, ATMs and programmable electronic POS systems, said Ariel Gumabao, country manager for Wincor Nixdorf Philippines Inc.:

Wincor Nixdorf plans to grow its entire business in the Philippines by investing in our new subsidiary to ensure customers receive the latest and most appropriate banking and retail technology, as well as benefit from our outsourcing capabilities. Our expertise lies in bringing together hardware, software and services to create global IT solutions that increase and optimize the efficiency and user-friendliness of our customers' processes.
