Payment card networks Visa and Mastercard have secured the No. 5 and No. 10 spots, respectively, in the newly released list and report, "Brandz Top 100 most valuable US brands 2019."

Mastercard achieved an impressive 66 percent year-over-year increase in brand value, according to the report, jumping from $55.41 billion last year report to $91.91 billion currently. This accomplishment established the company as one of the fastest-rising brands of the year (see chart, right.)
The Visa brand also increased in value year over year, but by a much smaller percentage. The brand added 35 percent in value, rising from $121.69 billion to $168.89 billion over the course of a year.
Together the U.S.-based companies represent a total of more than $213 billion in brand equity.
The four most valuable brands in the U.S. study were, not surprisingly, Apple, Google, Amazon and Microsoft, in that order, with a combined total of more than $1 trillion in brand equity.

The study was commissioned by WPP PLC, a British multinational advertising and public relations company. Methodology and valuation were performed by Kantar, the Data Investment Management division of WPP.
