Visa goes mobile with Google

December 17, 2008

Unwired View: Visa Mobile has been introduced for use in Android devices such as the T-Mobile G1. The new mobile-finance application will work on other handsets, too, as long as they are running the open-source Google Android operating system. To support its launch, 14 leading U.S. merchants are expected to try it, including 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Bonefish Grill, eBags.com, eMusic.com, FragranceNet.com, Jos. A. Bank, Lenovo, Overstock.com, Planet Hollywood, Restaurant.com and Shoes.com. The Locator is a service that's integrated with Google Maps and Google location-based services to show consumers the nearby merchants or ATMs that accept Visa.
