VIDEO: ATM doles out twenties after hacker attack
February 24, 2009
(Nashville, Tenn.) WTVF-TV, Channel 5: A Triton ATM at a Fast Stop store in Columbia, Tenn., got hacked last week after after it was reprogrammed to dispense twenties instead of ones. Receipts showed the two who stole from the machine got away with $1,500. It was all caught on camera.
A spokeswoman at Triton says the original news report was misleading. There is no code that a user can enter to compromise the computer in an ATM, she says. A password must be entered in order to access the management functions and have the ability to reprogram the ATM.
