US Payments Forum launches site to help merchants mulling contactless

February 28, 2019

Growing numbers of merchants are showing interest in enabling contactless payment for their customers; the U.S. Payments Forum has launched a website, www.getcontactless.com, to help them get started.

The forum is an industry body that was formed to support the introduction and implementation of new and emerging payments technologies in the U.S. The new website is part of the forum's ongoing efforts to provide timely and easy-to-use educational resources for the industry at large, according to a press release.

The site answers merchants' questions about contactless payments and provides additional resources such as information on best practices for signage.

"The U.S. is starting to wake up to contactless payments, which provide the same robust security as contact chip cards with added convenience," forum director Randy Vanderhoof said in the release. "We're seeing a ramp-up in issuance of contactless cards and steady upticks in contactless and mobile wallet transaction volumes. As this market continues to grow, merchants will find that this website is an excellent resource for those considering or currently in the process of implementing contactless payments."
