Unwired Appeal launches ATM locater for mobile phones
May 1, 2008
BOSTON — Co-Op Financial Services' customers can now locate ATMs while on-the-go, using Unwired Appeal's new ATM Locater service. Locater services runs on Unwired Appeal's proprietary location-based-services platform.
"The LBS platform is a new addition to our mobile technology suite," said Stephen Nye, vice president of sales at Unwired. "Where GPS is not available, the service enables the mobile user to text-message location information and the platform will calculate the user's latitude and longitude."
Similar to location services offered online by Google and Yahoo, Unwired's service is specifically engineered for use with the cell phone.
The platform just recently launched and already Unwired Appeal has deployed search services for Co-Op Financial and the Colorado Credit Union Association.
