Financial services technology provider Fiserv Inc. and United Community Banks Inc., a $6.7 billion holding company based in Blairsville, Ga., are renewing and expanding their relationship. United will continue to use the Fiserv Premier bank platform, and will also will deploy several more Fiserv programs, including card services solutions.
Fiserv will help the bank implement EFT processing and deploy the ACCEL/Exchange Network, which will give United cardholders access at any time to demand deposit account funds at ATMs and the point of sale.
"We consider this technology a competitive advantage, as we, like other institutions, must maintain outstanding customer satisfaction, lower operating expenses, meaningfully increase operating efficiency and remain focused on improving overall credit measures," said Jim Stewart, chief technology officer at United Community Banks Inc.
United will continue to process in-house with Premier. According to Stewart, this model is the best fit for United, and gives the bank several cost and processing benefits.
Fiserv and United will continue to build on a 20-year relationship in order to deliver new and evolving customer services, said Teri Carstensen, president of bank solutions at Fiserv.
"Like consumers everywhere, United's customers have come to expect a high degree of flexibility and personalization from their banking experience," said Carstensen. "Fiserv will continue to provide leading-edge products and services that help United go toe-to-toe with larger banks in its market."
United is the third-largest traditional bank holding company in Georgia. It operates 27 community banks with 104 banking offices in Georgia, western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee. The bank holds a customer satisfaction rating of 95 percent, as reported by Customer Service Profiles LLC.
