UnionPay qualifies UL EMV personalization validation tool

UnionPay has approved the UL EMV personalization validation tool for testing of contact and contactless cards, according to a press release.

The UL tool for UnionPay tests payment products according to UnionPay mandatory card personalization regulations and helps to ensure a smooth certification process, for card manufacturers, issuers and personalization bureaus, UL said.

The validation functionality checks the correctness of a card application personalization and provides readable reports that explain errors and observations found.

UL said that its one-click solution can store, validate, retrieve, and examine all personalization data of UnionPay card applications such as chip, magnetic stripe, embossing data, asymmetric keys and PIN.

With integration of the tool's optional modules, any EMV card, secure element or cloud-based payment application can be checked according to the latest test specifications from the major payment schemes, UL said.
