ULSTER, Ireland -- Ulster Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, and Easycash, Ireland's largest independent ATM provider, will partner to roll out up to 400 Wincor Nixdorf ATMs in retail and non-bank locations nationwide.
The joint initiative represents an investment of 5 million euros (about $5.6 million U.S.) over the next 12 months, according to a news release.
Easycash, founded by Mark Roden, the former director of Esat Telecom, in January 2002, has already deployed more than 200 ATMs at SPAR, Mace, SuperValu, Centra, ESSO and Texaco franchises, along with a range of hotels and pubs throughout Ireland.
According to the release, transactions at EasyCash-branded ATMs are increasing at a rate of more than 35 percent per month. Easycash collects no convenience fees for cash withdrawals.
John West, Ulster Bank's director of manufacturing said in the release, "The model is an attractive proposition for retailers, and the initiative is an important step in expanding further the service reach and ATM convenience we provide to the banking public."
Roden, Easycash's managing director, said, "We are confident that the synergy created by this initiative will benefit our retailers and customers alike."
According to the release, Easycash employs 12 people and operates a dedicated call center line seven days a week. Further customer support is offered by JLS, which is the approved agent for Wincor Nixdorf and NCRproducts in Ireland.
Ulster Bank has 213 branches, 32 business centers and 414 ATMs throughout Ireland.
