TNS expands in South America with acquisition of Link Solutions

January 18, 2019

Transaction delivery service provider Transaction Network Services is expanding into Brazil through the acquisition of mobile and Internet of Things communications specialist Link Solutions Eireli.

According to a press release, the acquisition gives TNS two new offices in Brazil, 65 new employees and an extensive customer base of mPOS, transportation, security and tracking customers who collectively use more than 500,000 Link-managed SIMs in the country. Combined with its own SIM network, TNS now manages almost a million SIMs around the world.

"We are delighted to be taking this significant step into the South American market," TNS CEO Mike Keegan said in the release. "Brazil is one of the world's fastest growing IoT markets and, combined with it being the largest developing economy in South America, it is an excellent springboard for growth across the continent."

With its expanding presence in South America, TNS expects to see interest in the company's wider range of fintech solutions, the release said. These solutions include dialup, encryption, tokenization, payment gateway, unattended payments, financial markets connectivity and more.

Link CEO, Alexandro de Araujo Silva, will remain in his position and will work closely with George Zirkel, TNS senior vice president of global strategy. Former Link owner Francisco das Chagas Batista Leite will serve as a consultant following the acquisition.
