TNS accepting live chip transactions in UK following pilot

July 21, 2004

LONDON - Transaction Network Services (TNS) has rolled out an end-to-end EMV transaction processing and authorization solution following a six-week pilot which ran across its UK processing infrastructure.

According to a news release, the solution is based on software and testing tools from Aconite, an international smart card software solution provider.

TNS implemented Aconite's suite of EMV solutions -- EMV Transaction Enabler and EMV Script Processor -- to deliver a migration strategy for EMV compliance. The infrastructure  enables TNS to provide full EMV authorization processing and to generate and deliver EMV scripts for fraud prevention, risk management and off-line PIN services to its financial institution clients.

The installation has enabled TNS to offer network and processing services that are EMV complaint well in advance of the UK's 2005 mandate for conversion to EMV.

Aconite also provided strategic consulting services and assistance for the implementation and assisted with testing and certification support using its test tool suite, EMV Facilitator.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Transaction Network Services, Inc., based in the United States, TNS (UK) provides network expertise to the UK's banking and retail sectors, as well as tailored processing solutions from its systems operations center in Welwyn Garden City.  Among the services it provides are merchant processing and ATM processing.
